The Nový Čas and Forbes ad concepts for EXpresta side by side

Brief

EXpresta is a printing services company. As part of a job interview assignment, I was asked to develop two distinct full-page magazine advertising concepts: one for the broad tabloid readership of Nový Čas, and one for the premium business readership of Forbes.

Objective

To show how the same company and the same services can be presented in completely different ways depending on who the audience is.

My role

I developed both concepts, the creative direction and the messaging. AI tools assisted with the visual production.

Process

For Nový Čas, the ad is loud, fast and playful: bold yellow and red headlines, a surprised reader holding the newspaper and a pile of colourful print products. The headline jokes that EXpresta printed it before you finished reading the headline.

For Forbes, the ad is dark, minimal and premium: serif typography, a night-time city view and a single embossed print piece with the line "Some brands shine brighter". The headline says that strong brands shine longer.

I defined the ideas and the messaging, then used AI image generation to produce the visuals. The ads are in Slovak, as they were created for Slovak media.

Final outcome

Two full-page magazine advertising concepts for the same brand, delivered as part of a job interview assignment.

Key takeaways

  1. The same brand can be framed very differently depending on the audience and the medium.
  2. AI tools can speed up visual production, while the concept, direction and messaging remain human decisions.
